Evening skies

After mostly poor weather while I was away, I returned home to spectacular evening skies again.

Water in monochrome - and chimneys!

The first of these images is Wells again; the remainder were all taken at Holkham Hall, to the west of Wells along the coast - hence the rather odd juxtaposition of lake and chimney pots!

Unfortunately, the low-res-for-web versions below have given the brickwork of the chimneys (images that were fairly heavily cropped anyway) a somewhat fuzzy appearance.

More boats at Wells-next-the-Sea

More boats at Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk. These four images seemed to work best in colour and weren't good in black and white.

If you're familiar with Lightroom: I found that the light conditions in these images were best served by processing the RAW images with quite high 'clarity' but with 'vibrancy' reduced below zero.

Boats in colour and monochrome

More images from Norfolk: pairs of colour and monochrome processed images of boats at low tide in the harbour, and the creeks in the marshes, at Wells-next-the-Sea.

Heavy metal

I've just returned from a week's holiday in North Norfolk. The weather was mostly dull, leaden grey or pouring with rain, but with a couple of days of bright sunshine. Bright sun glinting off sand and reflecting off sea posed one kind of challenge; leaden grey a different one! In processing my images I've consequently ended up using quite a lot of black and white.

The first three images here are details from the maritime monument to George Vancouver, on the riverfront at King's Lynn. The last two are industrial items (one ancient and rusting) seen from the Norfolk coast path, just east of Wells-next-the-Sea.
